WELCOME TO HEA'S CORE CARE CLINIC!

HEA’s Core Care Clinic is here to help ensure that every dog and cat receives the essential veterinary care they need to live a happy, healthy life. This clinic focuses on providing core services, such as vaccinations, testing, microchipping, and preventatives at a cost-effective and accessible rate for all pet owners.

HEA's Core Care Clinic is designed to complement, not replace, your pet’s routine veterinary care exams. Routine wellness visits with your veterinarian remain an important part of your pet’s overall health and well-being.

We understand that many veterinary clinics are booked out or that cost can be a barrier. Our goal is to bridge that gap, offering a reliable and affordable way for pet owners to keep their animals protected and up to date on the care they deserve.

We believe that every pet, regardless of circumstance, should have access to basic preventative care. The Core Care Clinic helps keep pets healthy, owners supported, and our community stronger.

FOR DOGS

Rabies VACCINE — $15
What is Rabies? Rabies is a preventable but fatal viral disease (most often transmitted through a bite wound) that affects mammals, including humans, dogs, cats, ferrets, horses, foxes, raccoons, bats, skunks etc. Rabies is most often transmitted to pets from wild animals. Vaccination is the best protection against this deadly virus.
Learn more about the state of Wisconsin's rabies vaccine requirements here:  https://rabiesaware.org/state/wisconsin

For local rabies vaccine requirements, check the website of your local municipality or call them directly.

Why is this vaccine important? By vaccinating your pet against rabies, you’re protecting your family, your community, and your pet from a preventable disease.

We offer both 1-year and 3-year rabies vaccines for dogs and cats.
  • Pets must be at least 4 months old to receive their rabies vaccine through our clinic.
  • If your pet does not currently have a rabies vaccination and they are 4 months old and older, please sign up for this important service.
  • NOTE: In order to receive a 3-year rabies vaccine booster, proof of prior rabies vaccination is required. (You'll be asked to upload the proof during the registration process.)

COST: $15
Distemper VACCINE — $20
What is Distemper? Distemper (also known as panleukopenia) is a highly contagious and potentially fatal viral disease. In cats, the distemper virus can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, dangerously low white blood cell counts, and it can cause long-term neurological damage.

What is Rhinotracheitis? Rhinotracheitis is an infectious disease caused by feline herpesvirus type-1.  The virus causes upper respiratory disease in cats with conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, and discharge from the nose.

What is Calicivirus? Calicivirus is a virus in cats that can cause upper respiratory infections and oral disease (such as ulcers in the mouth).

What is Chlamydophila? Chlamydophila is a bacterial infection in cats that primarily causes conjunctivitis (eye inflammation/infections).

Why is this vaccine important? The distemper vaccine is a core protection for your pet’s health. It helps prevent severe illness, reduces the spread of disease, and supports the overall health of our pet community. Keeping your pet vaccinated ensures they stay healthy and helps prevent outbreaks in shelters, boarding facilities, and neighborhoods.

Providing your cat a distemper combination vaccine is an easy to way guard against Distemper, Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Chlamydophila, all at once.

We offer both 1-year and 3-year distemper vaccines for dogs and cats.
  • NOTE: In order to receive a 3-year distemper vaccine booster, proof of prior distemper vaccination is required. (You'll be asked to upload the proof during the registration process.)

For Kittens:
  • Vaccinations can begin as early as 8 weeks old. Starting early and keeping up with boosters gives your pet the best chance at a long, healthy life.
  • Kittens should receive boosters every 4 weeks (until 16-20 weeks of age).
  • After completing the initial series, pets should receive routine boosters as recommended.

COST: $20
MICROCHIPPING — $25
What is Microchipping? A microchip is a tiny, permanent form of identification about the size of a grain of rice that’s safely placed under your pet’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades. Each chip contains a unique identification number that links to your contact information when scanned by a shelter, rescue, or veterinarian (This is NOT a tracking device).

Why is this service important? Microchipping is one of the most effective ways to ensure your lost pet finds their way home. Collars and tags can fall off or become unreadable, but a microchip provides lifelong identification that can’t be removed or lost. Pets with microchips are far more likely to be reunited with their families if they ever go missing.
  • The process is quick, safe, and causes only minimal discomfort, similar to a routine vaccination.
  • Once microchipped, you’ll receive information on how to keep your contact details up to date

COST:
 $25
Broad-Spectrum Dewormer — $10
What is Dewormer? Broad-Spectrum Dewormer used to treat and control common intestinal parasites in both dogs and cats.

Why is it important? Deworming is an important part of keeping your pet healthy. Intestinal worms can cause symptoms like weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, and a dull coat, and some types can even spread to humans. Deworming provides a safe and effective way to eliminate worms and protect your pet’s overall health. Regular deworming helps your furry friend stay happy, healthy, and parasite-free!

What is Bordatella? Bordetella, often called “kennel cough,” is a highly contagious respiratory infection that spreads easily between dogs through coughing, sneezing, or close contact. It’s especially common in places where dogs gather, like boarding facilities, dog parks, grooming salons, and training classes.

Why is this vaccine important? While kennel cough is usually mild, it can cause persistent coughing, sneezing, and nasal discharge, and in some cases, lead to more serious respiratory illness. The Bordetella vaccine helps protect your dog's immunity.

This vaccine is often recommended for any dog that spends time around other dogs in populated public spaces. Protecting your dog helps protect the whole community of pets they meet.
  • Puppies can typically begin receiving this vaccine at 8 weeks of age (based on their individual health).
  • A booster is recommended yearly to maintain protection.

COST: $20
MICROCHIPPING — $25
What is Microchipping? A microchip is a tiny, permanent form of identification about the size of a grain of rice that’s safely placed under your pet’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades.

COST: $20
Heartworm testing (Heartworm Only) — $30
What is Heartworm disease? Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition caused by parasitic worms that live in the heart, lungs, and blood vessels of infected dogs. It’s spread by mosquito bites and once infected, heartworms can cause severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs.

Why is testing important? Heartworm disease is completely preventable, but treatment after infection is difficult, expensive, and stressful for dogs. That’s why annual testing and year-round prevention are so important. Testing ensures your dog is free of heartworms before starting or continuing preventives, keeping them safe and healthy.

Regular prevention is the best protection. With a quick blood test and simple monthly dose, you can protect your dog from a life-threatening disease and ensure they stay healthy for years to come.

COST: $30
4DX testing (Heartworm + Lyme, Erlichiosis, Anaplasmosis) — $40
What is Heartworm disease? Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition caused by parasitic worms that live in the heart, lungs, and blood vessels of infected dogs. It’s spread by mosquito bites and once infected, heartworms can cause severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs.

What is Lyme Disease? Lyme disease is a bacterial infection spread by tick bites. It can cause joint pain, lameness, fever, kidney failure, lethargy, and behavioral changes.

What is Erlichiosis? Erlichiosis is a bacterial infection spread by tick bites. It can cause fever, bleeding, poor appetite, lethargy, and joint pain/lameness.

What is Anaplasmosis? Anaplasmosis is a bacterial infection spread by tick bites. It can cause fever, bleeding, joint pain, lameness, and lethargy.

Testing for tick-borne diseases provides valuable insight into symptoms that may appear early on and require treatment, or that may need to be monitored throughout a dog’s lifetime.

Regular prevention is the best protection. Testing and year-round prevention work hand-in-hand. With a single 4DX test, you can check for multiple infections at once, then use monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventives to keep your dog protected all year long.

COST: $40
monthly topical preventative (NexGard and Heartgard) — $ Cost varies
What is NexGard? NexGard is a monthly chewable that protects dogs from fleas and ticks, helping prevent irritation, infections, and the spread of tick-borne diseases.

What is Heartgard? Heartgard is a monthly chewable that protects dogs from heartworm disease, a potentially fatal condition caused by parasitic worms spread through mosquito bites.
  • IMPORTANT: Dogs must sign up for and have a negative heartworm or 4DX test before starting Heartgard.

Why is it important? Starting and maintaining these monthly preventatives helps protect your pet from parasites, maintains their overall health, and prevents serious diseases.

NexGard cost: $25 for 1 dose, $150 for 6 doses

Heartgard cost: $9-$13 for 1 dose, $95-$140 for 12 doses (final cost based on weight)
