What is Hour of Love?
On May 1 & 2, HEA's tail-wagging, thunderous-purring, snuggle-fest returns! We’re looking for individuals and groups of all sizes to volunteer for just an hour (longer if you wish). Your heart is sure to go pitter-patter when you sign up for a shift during this high-impact event.

For 60 minutes you'll get to hang out up-close-and-personal with the animals that you're helping. We'll give you all the tools, and you'll do what you're really good at: send texts and emails, make cute posts to your favorite social media outlets, and place a couple phone calls to the pet lovers in your life. A very simple ask for support will make all the difference in the world to hundreds of companion animals.

How can you get involved?
  • Watch for registration to open soon!
  • Start getting your friends and co-workers excited - tell them about Hour of Love!
  • If you or someone you know is interested in donating funds to help build the matching pool - contact Marcus Reitz.
2019 Results
With your generous support and the help of the Give BIG Green Bay platform, HEA raised over $50,000 in donations. We were further supported by $9,000 in matching funds and a $5,000 award for having the most individual donors of any participating nonprofit. All of this produced a total mission impact of $64,000!

Future Planning
Hour of Love was designed to garner support during HEA's 2019 Give BIG Green Bay campaign. We would love to grow this event as part of the Give BIG platform. However, we know participation in Give BIG is not an annual guarantee, so we built Hour of Love with the intent to carry it into the future.

Being so deeply involved in Give BIG during its first two years, we consulted the team at the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation about our plans to host Hour of Love as our own event. Their team is so wonderfully supportive of our entire community; it’s great to know, they completely support our future direction with Hour of Love!
Since our founding in 2006, we have seen great progress in the companion animal welfare world. Needless killing in shelters continues to decline. Organizations across the country are moving toward a no-kill measure. The agreed upon no-kill measure has been defined as a 90% live release rate. Our view is that 90% isn't enough. We are determined to see the day when the remaining 10% receive continued care and love too.

Innovative solutions are produced when killing is removed from the equation.
