Steps for Pets

Join in the fun of HEA's 5th annual Steps for Pets! Whether you're walking the walk, partying the party or simply making a contribution, it's all going to change a live! The companion animals that find uncondtional love in the arms of the caring staff and volunteers at HEA count on fundraisers like this one to meet their daily needs.

In 2018 alone, HEA expects to provide direct care for more than 650 dogs and cats. As you can imagine, there's quite an expense in providing vaccines, microchips, special dietary foods, emergency medical attention, and spay/neuter procedures to that number of animals. And this only starts to scratch the surface. These animals need a physical place to live and care-taking staff to provide for them.

Your support matters to Every.Single.One. Joining HEA on Saturday, September 22nd is one of the most important things you'll do all year!

The day gets rolling with a scenic 1 mile or 5K pet walk. Once the walk wraps up, it's time to party...with our pets! Stop back soon for all of the details of this year's happenings! Let's just say it's going to be colorful!

Since our founding in 2006, we have seen great progress in the companion animal welfare world. Needless killing in shelters continues to decline. Organizations across the country are moving toward a no-kill measure. The agreed upon no-kill measure has been defined as a 90% live release rate. Our view is that 90% isn't enough. We are determined to see the day when the remaining 10% receive continued care and love too.

Innovative solutions are produced when killing is removed from the equation.
