FrankieWhat a handsome salt-and-pepper fellow! Our dear Frankie is one of our elder and longest term residents. Frankie arrived at HEA in 2007 when he was just five years old. In his heyday, Frankie was a very stubborn fellow. He didn’t care for cats or small dogs. He had severe anxiety and would growl at others when he became excitable – especially young children. We observed many of these behaviors in Frankie. So he settled in, growing old and grey with his loving HEA family.
Over the years, our dedicated care team has enjoyed the delightful quirks of this wonderfully unique Shepherd/Husky mix. Frankie used to adore the indoor/outdoor run access in his suite and preferred spending all his time outside- even when it was raining! At mealtimes, this shaggy fellow would insist on having his meals brought outside to him – of course we obliged him. |
Now that old age has snuck up on this independent dog, he prefers to stay indoors. Frankie will happily lounge around on a thick cushioned beddie of blankets. His unique disposition hasn’t changed completely- he still barks to request his personal meal service when it’s feeding time. Frankie will fuss a bit when our volunteers assist him into the outdoors, but as soon as he’s out there, he’ll turn his lovely speckled face skyward, soaking in all the beautiful sunshine as he greets Sanctuary guests.
Frankie is now in his golden years and although he didn’t have a “traditional” life, he lived an incredibly full one. The Sanctuary offers a loving and accepting environment to all the animals in our care and Frankie is a prime example of how Sanctuary works. Thanks to loving sponsors, dogs like Frankie are able to have a great life – one that’s built with an understanding of who they are. They are cherished and celebrated in life and mourned deeply when they cross the Rainbow Bridge.
When you choose this special gift option, you’ll have the pride of knowing that you just changed a life! Thank you for helping HEA continue to provide endless love to special pets, like our shaggy boy, Frankie!
