Why Foster? 

Many animals at HEA need extra love and care on their way to finding a family of their own. A home environment and one-on-one attention can make all the difference in helping these pets get adopted. Animals who benefit from fostering include:

• Puppies or kittens too young to be adopted
• Adult cats that just need a little time to come out of their shell
• Young dogs that will benefit from socialization
• Senior dogs and cats that will be more comfortable in a home environment
• Neglected or abused dogs and cats that need extra tender loving care

Simply stated, placing an animal with a foster family allows us all to save more lives.

How it works

As a foster family, your job is to share a safe and loving home with an animal in need. HEA will provide all food and supplies and also finance approved medical procedures.

Your temporary commitment as a foster family means a tremendous amount to the dogs and cats that you help along their life's journey.

You provide:

• A temporary, safe, and loving home for a cat or dog.
• Transport pets to and from appointments and meet and greets with prospective families.
• Information to help tell your foster pet’s story.
• Endless love and affection.

We Provide:

• Food and supplies
  • ​Crate
  • Food, dishes, treats, and toys
  • Leash and collar for dogs
  • Litter and litter box for cats
  • Medications, vaccinations, and preventatives
  • Other supplies as needed
• All approved medical costs
• Support and education to foster families
