Spay/Neuter Program

HEA is pleased to offer a variety of spay/neuter options to our community in order to remove barriers to this critically important service.

Spaying and neutering a cat (or cats) in your life has many benefits, including:
  • Reduced risk of certain infections and types of cancer
  • Increased lifespan
  • Reduction in unwanted behaviors such as marking, spraying, and roaming

At this time, HEA's spay/neuter program is available for cats only.

Before you book...

Please read through the important information below to ensure the logistics of this program will work for you and your cat(s).
location & timing of services
  • HEA's primary spay/neuter partner vet is located in Madison, Wisconsin.
  • All cats fixed through this program will be transported to Madison to receive their services.
  • HEA provides transportation, which is already included in the total cost.
  • Cats will be dropped off at 4:15AM HEA's Green Bay Adoption Center (2255 Fox Heights Lane) on the morning of the appointment.
  • Pickup will happen the same-day at HEA's Green Bay Adoption Center
    • Pick up times will be assigned on the day of the appointment (once our transport drivers depart from Madison to return home). You will be provided a 2-hour notice for pickup.
  • No application required, simply complete the booking form.
requirements for the day of the appointment
Morning Drop Off (4:15am)
You will drop your cat(s) off the morning of the appointment. We understand that drop off occurs incredibly early in the morning; we are unable to accommodate evening drop offs at this time and we appreciate your understanding.

Evening Pick Up
  • There is not a standard pick-up time. Pick-up typically falls between 6:30-7:30pm, but timing will vary based on surgery completion as well as transport logistics (weather, traffic, etc.). We kindly ask for your flexibility on the day of the surgery so that pick-up can run smoothly for everyone.
  • We will text you 2 hours before pick-up with your assigned pick-up time.
    • Because surgery length and travel timing may vary, we are unable to assign a pick-up time any earlier in the day.
  • Animals must be picked up at the assigned time; we are unable to board animals overnight.
  • Please provide the correct, text-enabled phone number for the person picking up your pet (we'll ask for it in your registration form).
  • On the day of the appointment, a confirmation reply to the pick-up text is required so that we know you received your assigned time.
rescheduling & Missed appointments
Our spay/neuter clinics operate on a very tight schedule with limited capacity. When you book an appointment, that slot is reserved specifically for your cat(s) and cannot be filled by others at the last minute. Missed appointments directly reduce the number of cats we’re able to spay/neuter through this program.

For owned indoor cats, we typically allow one complimentary reschedule if an appointment is missed or needs to be cancelled within a few days of the surgery. If an appointment is missed or canceled again after that reschedule, it may be considered redeemed and not eligible for refund or additional rescheduling, as it prevents another cat from receiving care.

For outdoor and community cats, we understand that trapping can be unpredictable, and we aim to be flexible when possible — especially when most of the registered cats are able to attend. That said, repeated missed appointments still impact clinic capacity and may result in reschedule limits being enforced.

Our goal is to balance flexibility with fairness so we can continue offering this program and help as many cats as possible. If you’re unsure whether you’ll be able to attend, please reach out as early as you can — early communication helps us maximize the number of cats we’re able to serve.
risks for senior pets (6+ years old)
Because this is a high-volume, low-cost clinic, our veterinary partner is not able to provide pre-anesthetic bloodwork. This service is generally recommended for cats over 6 years of age, as it helps assess organ function before anesthesia.

By booking services through this program, you acknowledge the risks and agree to proceed with surgery for your cat(s) without pre-anesthetic bloodwork.
